Loved it here! The hotel itself is beautiful, and looks stunning at night time. It’s set well back off the main road, so all you hear is blissful peace and quiet in your room. My partner booked this as a surprise Christmas present for me, and we have already booked to go back again. The staff are lovely and friendly. Breakfast was also so good! You can pick which meal you would like off the menu (some options have a small surcharge but otherwise it was included in our room rate) and it’s all brought out to you. You can also help yourself to fruits, cereals, pastries etc whilst you wait. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed for 2 nights on the 21st and 22nd January 2025 for our 60th Birthday celebration. I have to say I am shocked at the experience and the poor standards of the room. > The bathroom floor tiles all cracked and dangerous of cutting bear feet. > The shower head wouldn’t stay up so unable to have a proper shower > The mould around the silicone seal was black/dirty > The carpet in the bedroom was dirty and had many stains that I dread to think what they were > The bed was so uncomfortable and I didn’t sleep for the 2 nights > The radiator had an electrical cable for the spur switch that was too big and a potential tripping hazard. Should have been inside conduit > The bed had ripped bedding with a mattress that was sunken and well passed its “sell by date” > Albeit they had a mattress protector on, when peeled back the stains on the mattress were shocking > Breakfast was cold and the service was “not” personable Shocking experience and not even a Travel Inn would be as BAD as this place was. I have emailed the General Manager and, on the day filled in a feedback form and requested the General Manager gets in on his desk. As of yet NO REPLY. I thinks they are in denial and don’t like feedback….

Perfect 2 nights stay at this beautiful Castle. Bedrooms are stunning, well equipped and finished to an extremely high standard. Quality furnishings & fittings, everything you need. Luxurious bedding & toiletries and beautifully clean. Bars & Restaurants, great atmosphere, delicious food and great menu choices for both food & drinks. Public areas are well maintained and the design is in keeping within the character of the Castle. Outstanding friendly service from all the staff who can't do enough for you from arrival all the way through to departure. Perfect destination and can highly recommend. We have loved our couple of days of pure luxury and will definitely return.

Please DO NOT EAT or get married here. It was always so beautiful and clean with good food. BUT it has deteriorated terribly since our last visit. We pre paid for a 3 course meal for 10 of us. Food was not cooked, it tasted off and dirty. They swapped our starters which were worse, but did not offer to rectify our mains. Asked for a refund. Staff on the day apologised profusely but said that we would need to email in as they couldn’t authorise. We emailed in, it was ignored, emailed again a week or 2 later, to be told that they will be keeping the whole amount. Had to eat elsewhere and pay twice. We have never been treated so poorly.

I have already sent a lengthy review directly to Celtic castles but they did not see fit to reply. To summarize, £900 for two nights over christmas bought us a sub standard tired room and food that they had attempted and failed to keep warm for hours. We are writing this having spent our entire working lives in the restaurant business.

A stunning setting for a night away or I would guess a beautiful wedding. From the entrance you are greeted with a stunning building. Everywhere we went was kept very nice and to high standards. We went for the suite which had a sitting room and bedroom just as big as each other. The service I can not fault at all everyone was so helpful. Food was good.

Had the greatest Christmas experience there. 2 night stay over Christmas. Staff were absolutely amazing. They worked so hard and were so lovely through the whole time. Drinks were delicious, food was out of this world. I can’t rate the place highly enough.

DISAPPOINTING! Went for a wedding which is fab! However the room was disgusting 🤢. Tea stains on the wall, marks on the outdated carpet, broken fan in the wardrobe, the bathroom had mould all over the tiles and the floor and the side of the bath. Shower was awful. The bed was uncomfortable and hard! No plug sockets by the bed. No milk to make a cup of tea and room service toilet around 40minutes. The furniture was marked and scratched. I felt so uncomfortable staying over due to cleanliness but, having a wedding there made up for it as I didn’t have to stay in my room as long. Sad because I always thought I’d want to marry here. I think that view has changed now until there was a massive refurb. For the money people pay to stay and have weddings I don’t know how this is all missed and how they can be proud of the cleanliness of their rooms.

4 stars? Maybe out of 100. The bedroom had: no heat the first night, a toilet that wouldn't flush, no shampoo, no body wash, two mattresses laid side by side with mismatched heights, a single towel, crumbs on the floor, windows that banged at night, hot water that worked periodically, and chipped paint everywhere. The breakfast food was disappointing. Super 8 motels I've stayed at had better quality. I understand it's an old castle, but then charge and set expectations accordingly.

Stayed two nights for wedding. Room was poor, bed uncomfortable (few other mentioned this at the wedding), carpet dated and not fitted right, TV old, no plugs by the bed. Food was good no complaints For a wedding it very picturesque and the venue is nice. Overall good for wedding poor if staying over!

Afternoon tea. We mistakenly read online that reservations weren’t required, but they are and they were fully booked. However staff accommodated us with a lovely cream tea in the lounge. Book ahead for the full experience!

We were guests at a wedding at the castle and had booked an overnight stay,for the December wedding, in July 2023. From check-in and throughout the day of the wedding the staff were hard working, friendly and efficient. Service at the wedding breakfast was exceptional, given the number of guests, and the meal was very good indeed. The morning breakfast reflected the high standard of food. The venue and the public areas provide a spectacular backdrop for a wedding. However, the bar prices are very expensive, even in comparison to hotels of a higher standard. But was most disappointing was our room. Given that we had booked the room some 17 months before our stay I don't understand why we were given a room in the turret. Accessibility was difficult as we had to navigate a lot of steps and then a spiral stone staircase up to the room. Lighting on the spiral staircase was poor, and this contributed to my wife losing her footing, only just managing to save herself from a nasty fall. The bedroom itself was large, but tired looking and tatty in places. For instance, an electrical socket looked like it was falling out of the wall (see pic), the carpet was worn with some stains and was fraying at the door to the bathroom (see pic). The shower riser was broken, resulting in us having to use the shower hand-held. The room was very warm, too warm for us, and opening the window resulted in it rattling all night due to the wind. The furniture was also tired looking, with access to the safe only being possible if one lay on the floor (see pic). There was also what appeared to be an electrical wire in the safe. The hotel website considers the bedrooms to be 'stunning' and 'opulent'. Our room certainly didn't live up to those claims. It's such a shame that the bedroom did not live up to the rest of the hotel experience and at £170 for the night we did not consider it to be of particularly good value.

We got married at Peckforton Castle in November and as a venue they were second to none. Their wedding planning team were brilliant and ensured all questions were answered at any and all stages. Molly was our planner who was just the best and on the day Tammy ensured the day ran smoothly and without issue. Couldn't recommend enough.

1851 restaurant: service great, food was below par for the price mark. Poorly balanced flavour profiles on the gravlax (we make more interesting gravlax at home), duck (couldn't decide if it was sweet, tart, spiced or tough), and the tortellini (cold). Additionally, Christmas decorations were cheap and a bit of an afterthought.

Room tired looking, meal in main restaurant very slow and kept awake most of the night by the laundry machine banging. Weddings take precedent over individuals. Been before but will not go back. Disappointed.

I am writing this to express my deep dissatisfaction with the overall experience I had during my recent stay at Peckforton Castle in November. Unfortunately, the service and standards provided were far below the expectations set by the establishment and the prices charged. First, I was extremely disappointed with the cleanliness of the hotel room. Upon arrival, I found the room to be poorly maintained, with visible dirt and dust on surfaces. On both days of my stay, the toilet rolls were not replaced, and the bed was not properly made. The blankets were carelessly thrown onto the floor, which I found both unacceptable and unhygienic. This level of neglect is not what I would expect from a hotel of this supposed standard. Additionally, the breakfast experience was extremely disappointing. The pricing for breakfast extras felt like blatant profiteering, especially considering the limited and subpar quality of the options available. It was clear that your hotel is taking advantage of guests by charging excessively for items that should either be included or offered at a much more reasonable rate. £5 passion fee for Avocado and eggs which was even charged when we said we didn’t want the eggs !! Whilst I queried this the table next to us complained about hair in their food.. I was also taken aback by the prices for basic branded drinks within the hotel. The charges were excessive and, in my opinion, an unreasonable markup given the quality and nature of the products. Future guests - watch carefully for this. I run a chain of hospitality venues and you will be charged premium prices for drinks that are very cheap for the venue to purchase. To make matters worse, our stay was in connection with a wedding, and it became very apparent that wedding guests have little option but to stay at your hotel. Given this limited choice, it seems that your hotel is taking advantage of the situation by charging excessively for both accommodations and basic services. This kind of pricing feels particularly unfair when the overall service and standards fall so far short of what is expected. Given the combination of poor service, lack of cleanliness, and inflated prices, I feel that I did not receive the value I was led to expect when booking my stay. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and the hotel take immediate steps to address these issues so that future guests do not encounter the experience that we had…
